Nevada democrats propose a bill making it first nominating contest

Nevada is one among three states using caucuses is proposed a bill by state democrats changing its presidential caucus to a primary. The bill revealed that it is the first nominating contest in the country.

The changing dynamics will affect the previous states holding a prominent place on the presidential primary calendar including Iowa and New Hampshire. The alternate option is more democratic in nature as it will be inclining more towards people’s choice, upending decades of political tradition.

It will permit the urban and racially diverse groups of voters a greater say in picking the party’s nominee. Nevada is the third state to hold a presidential nominating contest for Democrats and fourth for Republicans.

It has yet to be concluded if national political parties will accept the proposal and will approve the change. The parties set their nominating calendars and can punish states by stripping them of delegates to nominating conventions if they don’t comply with the calendar.

The primary would be run by the state, instead of the caucuses run by political parties, and would be a separate election from a June primary held to pick party nominees and narrow the field of candidates for federal, state, and local officials.
