New York nursing home catches fire, residents evacuated

Residents had to be removed from a senior care home in a suburb of New York City in the early hours of Tuesday after the building caught fire, police said.
NBC New York said the flames were so fierce that the second floor of the Evergreen Court Home for Adults in Rockland County was destroyed completely and brought down.

Steven Nevel, New York State Police public information officer said that there were several agencies at the scene trying to extinguish the flames. He said a firefighter was taken to the hospital, without giving out the reason why.
No further details of how many people were living in the home or the evacuated number were given out by Nevel.
