Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter announces resignation
On Wednesday Attorney General Mike Hunter announces his resignation soon after he filed a divorce from his wife, Cheryl.
The Oklahoman submitted inquiries to Hunter on Tuesday night about an extramarital undertaking that the paper affirmed through individuals acquainted with the circumstance. The sources said the undertaking was with a state representative, who didn’t work in the principal legal officer’s office.
In an explanation, Hunter said, “It has been a particular and total advantage that should not be taken lightly to fill in as the state’s head legal officer. Deplorably, certain individual matters that are turning out to be public will turn into an interruption for this office. The workplace of the head legal officer is perhaps the main situation in state government. I can’t permit a private matter to eclipse the imperative work the lawyers, specialists and care staff do for the benefit of Oklahomans.
“I thank those who entrusted me to fulfill this role and I am very sorry that I will no longer be here. I also extend a very heartfelt appreciation for those employees who chose public service and to work for the office. The employees in the Attorney General’s Office are dedicated, driven and go to bed every night and wake up every morning with the safety of Oklahomans as their magnetic north. I truly appreciate everything they do.” Mike said .
His last working day will be on Tuesday.
