One person dead in Lackawanna gas explosion

One person is reported to be dead in an apparent gas explosion that took place on Tuesday in a suburban neighborhood in Buffalo, New York. 

Lackawanna Fire Captain Andrew Kaminski told USA Today that one person who was a resident of the house is believed to have been killed in the fire, the cause of which is not yet determined. 

Michael Salamone, a volunteer firefighter who lives across the street sprang into action when he saw the fire. “It looked like we had a bomb go off,” he told a local radio station.

According to a report by USA Today, the firefighter also said that an elderly woman lived in the house and that her car was there in the driveway at the time of the explosion.

600 customers in the area lost power but it was restored later in the morning, a local radio station reported.
