One person in custody after truck engulfs into flame during a chase in Bellflower

One person was taken into custody after a chase involving a stolen U-Haul truck took authorities from Orange County to downtown Los Angeles and back again on Tuesday morning.

According to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson, the pursuit started in Buena Park, who confirmed that the truck was stolen and being driven by a single male driver. In the beginning, Sky5 caught up with the chase a bit after 5 AM as the 26-foot U-Haul Super Mover was on the 605 Freeway in Whittier.

According to its website, the Super Mover is the largest truck U-Haul supplies to the public for moving.

The driver was being chased by CHP units as the truck moved to the westbound 60 Freeway in El Monte at around 5:15 AM. Aerial video from Sky5 showed a trailer lighting with spark behind the truck, which appeared to be traveling at about 60 or 70 mph.

After a log cat and mouse chase, at one point, fire could be seen coming from the passenger side wheel as the truck moved, and the flames started growing and spreading under the truck at around 6:45 AM.

The video showed the driver jumped out of the vehicle to evade the authorities but was eventually taken into custody.
