President Biden to attend G7 summit in England

President Biden is expected to make his first overseas trip as the President of the United States to Cornwall, England to attend the G7 summit, the annual gathering of the leaders of the world’s largest industrial countries, White House on Friday confirmed.

The summit is scheduled for 11-13 June. Following which he will be flying to Brussels to meet the leaders of the European Union and on June 14th he will be attending the summit of leaders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The trip will highlight Biden’s commitment to restoring the U.S. alliance and working closely with the U.S. allies to address global challenges and secure America’s best interest, says the White House.

NATO leaders will be discussing how to endure alliance to the future and ensure effective burden share. Biden will also be meeting with the leaders of NATO, as per the White House.

The leaders will also discuss common agenda to ensure global health security, tackle climate change, enhance digital and trade cooperation, stimulate global economic recovery, and strengthen democracy, the White House stated.

Though Biden is yet to travel abroad, he has held a virtual meeting with leaders of Canada and Mexico, including the climate summit he hosted with 40 world leaders.

Biden has made numerous domestic trips since he joined the office in January. On Thursday, he will attend a drive-in car rally with first lady Jill Biden to mark his 100th day in the office.
