He has been honoured with the title ‘Earl of Strathearn’ in Scotland and graced the ceremonial opening with his presence, that followed several days of rendezvous and discussions. The Duke will also be attending the closing ceremony of the same.
Prince William began with his speech saying, “Her Majesty The Queen has asked me to come here in person to reassure you of Her pledge to preserve and uphold the rights and privileges of the Church of Scotland. One day, it will be my responsibility to swear my own oath to maintain and preserve the security and independence of the Church of Scotland.”
He further added, lengthening his speech, “My appointment is therefore both a great honour, and a humbling opportunity. It is my duty today to speak, but equally I am here to listen. In Scotland this week I will have my eyes and ears permanently open. There’s so much to see and to hear about.”
The Prince also opened up on his personal moments of life, spent in Scotland, relating to his wife Catherine Middleton and late mother Princess Diana.
Prince William shared that it was nowhere but in Scotland, that he met his current wife and assured that his kids, Charlotte, George and Louis will grow up to build beautiful memories there too.
