Putin’s outspoken opponent Navalny on Hunger Strike for better treatment
Alexei Navalny, Russian opposition leader, on Wednesday has started a hunger strike in prison for proper treatment for his back and leg pains.
On Instagram, Navalny complained about the prison authorities’ refusal to give him the right medicines.
He also protested the hourly checks a guard makes on him at night.
Navalny said that he had no choice but to protest with a hunger strike because his physical condition has worsened.
The 44-year-old Navalny, Putin’s most outspoken opponent, was arrested in January upon his return from Germany.
In February, Navalny was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for violating the terms of his probation during his convalescence in Germany.
