Semiconductor chip shortage at Nissan’s Mexican plants, work suspended for June

The three plants owned by Nissan will not be functioning in the month of June because of the shortage of semiconductor chips globally. Work at Smyrna Vehicle, Canton Vehicle Assembly and Mexico Aguascalientes Plants will resume as and when the company sorts that out.

The problem does not remain exclusive to Nissan though. More companies like Neo, Stellantis are suffering from the same problem and have similarly cut down their work in the US. The shortage was also reported in the month of March when the production was halted until the next month, there seems to be a significant shortage as more plants in North America go through the same process.
