Senate Republicans impede the bipartisan commission from perusal of the Jan 6 Capitol riots

The Capitol riots of January 6 earlier this year killed five individuals and 140 police were officers injured. There have been talks in the Senate about increasing the security around the Capitol so that any incident like this does not happen again.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York (Democratic Party) called for a vote to bring attention to the GOP members who were against the study of the riots. “We have to investigate, expose and report on the truth. We need to establish a trusted record of what really transpired on Jan. 6 and the events that preceded it. The truth of the matter seems to be that Senate Republicans oppose the commission because they fear that it might upset Donald Trump and their party’s mid-term messaging,” he said.
