Suspect dead, 2 critically injured in shooting at Maryland, says police
A shooting took place at Maryland business park on Tuesday. Police said that the incident has left two people critically injured and the suspect dead, while the U.S. Navy reported an “active shooter incident” at Fort Detrick involving sailors.
Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said that the shooter went into a business, resulting in people at the spot fleeing. He could not say whether the shooting was inside or outside. The Police Chief said that the suspect drove about 10 minutes to Fort Detrick after that shooting and was killed there. The first shooting took place about 4 miles from Fort Detrick, at Riverside Tech park. The Navy refrained from releasing further details.
Lando said that the public is no longer at risk and everyone is safe. He also added that they have two different scenes and the only thing confirmed is that there is only one shooter.
The director of marketing for Nicolock Paving Stones, Jeremy Mutschler said that his understanding is that the shooting was near the company’s Frederick location but not at the business itself.
Mutschler said that they were able to assist and call the authorities as one of the victims who were wounded entered their facility seeking help.
