Third shot probably needed within 12 months of fully vaccinated: Pfizer CEO

Pfizer CEO, Albert Bourla, says that after being fully vaccinated people might need third shot within 12 months. He added that annual shots may also be required.

Previously it was announced that data shows vaccine to be highly effective six months after the second dose. The data was based on 12,000 participants. To examine the effectiveness of the vaccine within six months was considered too soon.

Bourla quoted that Covid-19 variants will “play a key role” in determining the vaccine’s future. Nation’s primary focus should be stuck at preventing spread of infections from the virus, he added.
