UK Health Minister breaks coronavirus rules

Britain’s Health Secretary Matt Hancock found himself in an awkward situation after images of him kissing his aide in violation of coronavirus rules of social distancing were published by The Sun newspaper.

Hancock had been having an affair with an aide whom he appointed in secret last year. He acknowledges that he had “let people down” on Friday.

Conceding to the allegations, Hancock said, “I accept that I breached the social distancing guidance in these circumstances. I have let people down and am very sorry.”

Hancock, however, has insisted that he will carry on as Health Secretary stating that “I remain focused on working to get the country out of this pandemic, and would be grateful for privacy for my family on this personal matter.”

The opposition Labour Party who have been lobbying for Hancock’s resignation, have demanded answers to the secret appointment of Coladangelo, a former lobbyist, to Hancock’s top advisory team.

Hancock’s apology has been accepted by the premiere, said Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesman. However, he avoided questions related to breaking social distancing protocol. He also added that proper procedures had been followed in Coladangelo’s appointment.
