UK reports two cases of Monkeypox; transmissible through contact
The virus belongs to the same family as the smallpox, the symptoms are very similar except that the smallpox’s effect is more severe. It has been discovered that it spreads through contact and exposure to droplets that are infected. Two cases have been reported in the UK and Northern Ireland. As of now, fifteen countries have reported confirmed cases of monkeypox in humans.
According to the statement made by WHO- “Cases are often found close to tropical rainforests where there are animals that carry the virus. Evidence of monkeypox virus infection has been found in animals including squirrels, Gambian poached rats, dormice, different species of monkeys and others.”
