UN recomends a global ban on Cannabis advertising

UN recommends a global ban on cannabis advertising in order to reduce its usage globally. Cannabis use has doubled in Europe and almost quadrupled in the United States of America in the past 20 years. The assembly addressed that Marijuana’s use leads to mental health disorders in the future.

It emphasized that the marketing of these products and the brand endorsements by popular celebrities further promote its use rather than spreading awareness about its health hazards.

The UN’s Office on Drugs and Crime wrote in its annual World Drug Report, “A comprehensive ban on advertising, promoting and sponsoring cannabis would ensure that public health interests prevail over business interests.”
