United Airlines CEO optimistic about travel demand recovery, despite COVID-19 surge
In an investors meeting on Wednesday, United Airlines CEO, Scott Kirby said that he expects a recovery in travel demand despite the COVID-19 surge.
Kirby said in an interview with CNBC that the delta variant of COVID-19 hasn’t affected bookings. According to him, a temporary pullback in reopenings is possible.
In the interview, he also said that the US should lift the entry ban on non-American citizens. “We’re not going to prevent the delta variant from coming to the United States by closing those borders because it’s already here,” he further added.
Airline and travel companies have been pressing the Biden administration to lift the entry ban. However, no decision has been taken by the White House yet.
