US investigates “Havana Syndrome” attack near the White House
“Havana Syndrome” attacks which first took place in 2016 in Havana, Cuba is suspected again on U.S. soil as officials carry heavy investigation on the matter. Likely to be caused by directed microwaves, the syndrome Hotel Nacional in Havana is one of the locations where it first occurred with symptoms including hearing strange noises, loss of memory, and nausea.
Two suspected attacks, both directed towards the White House took place as reported by CNN- one in near Ellipse and one in a Virginian suburb. The former which took place just on the south of the White House caused severe damage by harming a National Security Council official and the latter, an innocent woman who had taken her dog out for a walk.
Pentagon, one of the lead agencies carrying investigation on the matter is believed to have briefed Senate and House Armed Services Committees members as these incidents have harmed not only the U.S. soil in proximity to White House but also has escalated in the past harming government officials residing abroad.
Considering Russia to be the propagator behind the attacks, the agency has declined to comment officially with regards to the matter stating, “Given that we are still evaluating reported incidents and that we need to protect the privacy of individuals reporting incidents, we cannot provide or confirm specific details at this time.”
