Virgin Galactic share prices soar post Branson’s announcement on next trip

Virgin Galactic’s share prices soared after Richard Branson announced that he’d take the next spaceflight.

Virgin Galactic’s fourth development spaceflight VSS Unity is set to fly in early 2022. Passengers are testing the cabin before the flight next year.

The spaceflight will be live-streamed across social media platforms via Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.

600 reservations have already been booked for future flights with tickets worth $200,000 and $250,000 each.

In a video, Branson announced that “when we return from space, I will announce something very exciting to give more people the chance to become an astronaut.”

Virgin Galactic, founded in 2004, has been testing its spacecraft system for years. There have been several setbacks with a fatal crash in 2014 that delayed the company’s plan to take aboard passengers.

Three more spaceflight tests were remaining after the test on May 22, according to prior plans. The first will carry four passengers to test the cabin, the second will carry Branson, and the third will carry members of the Italian Air Force for professional astronaut training

However, Branson announced a change in schedule this Thursday, making his flight the next.
