Virginia tops America’s best state for business ranking by CNBC

Virginia tops for being America’s best state for business, having a strong workforce and a solid education system even after a year of the pandemic in CNBC’s 2021 ranking. It also earned top honors from CNBC’s review in 2019. This is Virginia’s fifth win since CNBC first launched the annual ranking in 2007, more than any other state.
CNBC scored in 10 categories of competitiveness, including infrastructure, economy, cost of living, and access to capital, weighing each attribute based on how frequently each state uses it as a selling point in economic development marketing materials, all 50 states.
