WhatsApp Down: What’s happening with WhatsApp right now?

WhatsApp Messenger, an American centralized messaging service owned by Facebook Inc. has stopped working.

WhatsApp and Instagram suffered a worldwide outage on Friday night. Users were unable to send or receive messages. Some users also reported that they failed to log in to WhatsApp Web.

Facebook Inc.’s platforms including photo-sharing app Instagram were down for thousands of users, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

Downdetector showed over 23,000 users posted about issues with WhatsApp on the website.

Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a series of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outages might be affecting a larger number of users.

Users indicate that WhatsApp has been having problems since 1:34pm.

Twitter is abuzz with WhatsApp users looking for answers.

“WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are all down. It’s as if monopolies are a bad idea”, a user, George Eaton tweeted.

The major messaging platform has never had any such issues in the past.

The messaging service had earlier declared that it will no longer work on millions of smartphones, Android and iPhones with outdated operating systems, from 1 February, in order to protect the security of its users.
