We“did our part” to protect the U.S. election says Mark Zuckerberg blaming Trump for Jan 6 riots

Mark Zuckerberg blames Trump and not Facebook for the U.S. Capitol riots, which lead to various repercussions. Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg denied her company’s role in the horrific events which left five people dead.

“I think these events were largely organized on platforms that don’t have our abilities to stop the hate and don’t have our standards and don’t have our transparency,” Sandberg said.

At Thursday’s hearing with the House Energy and Commerce Committee, lawmakers reentered Sandberg’s denial, but Facebook preferred silence.

In his opening statements, Zuckerberg said that Facebook “did our part” to protect the U.S. election and blamed former President Donald Trump for the chaos.

“I believe that the former president should be responsible for his words and that the people who broke the law should be responsible for their actions,” Zuckerberg wrote.

When questioned about the platform spreading misinformation and the Stop the Steal movement, Zuckerberg declined to answer directly.
