Failure to delete ‘illegal’ content results in social media giants facing charges in Russia

According to reports of Interfax news agency, Russia has filed charges against social media outlets like Facebook, Google, Telegram, and Twitter claiming that they had failed to comply and delete content deemed illegal.

The past few months have seen Moscow exercising greater control over social media giants. The Kremlin justifies fines and slowdowns of social media as an attempt to prevent foreign meddling in internal affairs.
