US Elections 2020: Check out these changes in rule by Twitter in response to Joe Biden story

Amidst all the social media tiff and allegations about President Donald Trump violating rules of Twitter by posting a video about private information related to Joe Biden’s son, Twitter Head of legal policy, trust and safety tweeted on her account about changing hacked content rule.

In a series of tweet, Vijaya Gadde, Twitter Policy Chief said that Twitter will no longer remove hacked account unless it is directly shared by hackers or those acting in concert with them. We will label Tweets to provide context instead of blocking links from being shared on Twitter. 

The changes took place after getting critical response and feedback from users about enforcing Hacked Material Policy of the company.

Meanwhile CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey said that straight blocking URL was wrong and unacceptable. 

Earlier, to stop the spread of the story posted on social media by New York post and @TeamTrump, twitter and Facebook took proactive steps by blocking users from sharing URL links to the article in the tweet. They also restricted those accounts from tweeting and blocked their accounts temporary.

The Republican party decry this incident and asked Twitter not to act like “Speech Police”. While Donald Trump when asked about Twitter’s action, he said,”It’s going to all end up in a big lawsuit and there are things that can happen that are very severe that I’d rather not see happen, but it’s probably going to have to”.
