US Elections 2020: Joe Biden questioned by two high profile democrats at ABC town hall
At ABC town hall, two high profile Democrats question Joe Biden about LGBTG Americans, LGBTG children, and Amy Conney Barret.
On Thursday, the questioners for the Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, at ABC town hall included two high profile Democrats with ties to the Obama administration.
ABC town hall saw Nathan Osburn as one questioner. Osburn is the former speechwriter for the Obama administration specifically at the Office of Public Affairs at the Commerce Department. Here’s what he asked Joe Biden “Amy Coney Barrett’s being pushed through at the last minute, even though millions have already voted. So what do you think about ideas from people like Pete Buttigieg and others to put in place safeguards that will help ensure more long-term balance and stability? And what do you say to LGBTQ Americans and others who are very worried right now about erosions of their rights and our democracy as a whole?” he asked. Osburn created the “Philly for Pete group” a group campaign for former Democratic presidential candidate, Pete Buttigieg.
The second questioner at the town hall was Mieke Haeck, physical therapist at State College, Pa, and mother of a transgender child. The question Mieke asked “about what he (Biden) will do to protect LGBTQ rights” to which Biden said, “I will flat out just change the law.” Mieke is the spouse of the high profile Democrat from Pennsylvania, Ezra Nanes. Here’s what she asked Joe Biden: “My youngest daughter is transgender. The Trump administration has attacked the rights of transgender people, banning them from military service, weakening nondiscrimination protections and even removing the word ‘transgender’ from some government websites. How will you as president reverse this dangerous and discriminatory agenda and ensure that the lives and rights of LGBTQ people are protected under U.S. law?”
ACB Town Hall was hosted by George Stephanopoulos, who was a journalist since 2002 and a communications director for Bill Clinton White House.
